NJ PRETTY FACE LTD

Hairdressing and beauty by appointment · diary and back-office work for other salons

The company mark: one rule with the salon above it and the desk below it

NJ PRETTY FACE LTD cuts and colours hair and takes beauty appointments at 29 Clarendon Road in Aylesham, and from the same building — mostly on the Monday when the salon door is shut — holds the appointment diaries of other independent salons near Canterbury. Two jobs at one address. The seam above is where they meet, and the switch below decides which of them this page puts first. It is a pair of ordinary links, so it works whether or not your browser is running scripts.

The three chairs, the basin bay and the side room

This column is written to you — the person deciding whether to ring.

Everything here runs by appointment. There are three chairs: one and two at the window, and chair three at the back under the extractor, which is where colour sits while it develops. Two basins stand in the bay between them. Off the corridor there is a single room with a door that shuts, used for anything done lying down or anything you would rather not do in the window.

The door is open Tuesday to Saturday, late on a Thursday, and earliest on a Saturday. Monday the door stays shut. Book by the time the work takes rather than the time you hope it takes: a cut and finish after a wash is booked at an hour, a root colour at an hour and a half, of which roughly thirty-five minutes is sitting in chair three while it processes.

Ring while the door is open, or write to salon@njprettyface.info, which is read when the door opens and again before it shuts. If it is your first colour appointment here, a skin test is booked as its own ten-minute slot at least forty-eight hours in front of it.

Booking an appointment sets out what we ask for on the phone. Hairdressing and Beauty treatments list the work by how long it takes and what happens in the time. The salon at Aylesham has the floor drawn out, with the step, the ramped side and where to leave a car.

Holding the diary for a salon that is not ours

From here the page changes who it is talking to. This column is one salon owner writing to another.

If your team is answering the phone with wet hands and a client in the chair, this is the second half of what this company does. We hold the diary. Calls and messages divert to us; we book, move and cancel inside the software you already run, on a staff login you create yourself, with diary read and write and nothing beyond it. No card details, no rota, no price list, no payroll.

Cover runs Monday to Saturday, 08:00 to 19:00. Monday is the fullest day at this end, for the plain reason that our own door is shut that day. Outside those hours the diversion drops back to your own voicemail and the recorded line names the next time the desk opens. Messages left there are logged the following morning against the time they arrived, not the time we heard them.

Every contact is written down the same way: date and time, how they reached us, name and number, which salon, what they asked for, what was done in the diary, and anything left for you to decide. At the close of each covered day you get one email per salon — bookings taken, appointments moved, cancellations, anyone who did not arrive, anything we could not answer, and the first and last appointment standing for the next day.

What the desk does is the whole list, with the load sheet that turns your own numbers into weekly desk hours. Diary cover walks a covered day in order. Taking on a salon is the five stages before anything goes live, and what stays with you afterwards. Quiet hours and cover says plainly when nobody is there.

Column-and-chair utilisation sheetWorking shown in full · a planning guide, not a booking system

This fits appointments of one length onto a given number of chairs across one day. It is arithmetic and it is printed line by line, so you can follow it and disagree with it. The figures below are the Aylesham day; type over any of them. Nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is held.

One day, one appointment length

Minutes between opening and closing510 minutes, which is 8 hours 30 minutes

One client, appointment plus turnaround45 + 10 = 55 minutes a client

Appointments on one chair510 ÷ 55 = 9 appointments, with 15 minutes left at the end of the chair

Appointments across the chairs9 × 3 chairs = 27 appointments

09:00 to 17:30 is 510 minutes. 510 ÷ (45 + 10) = 9 a chair, 15 minutes short of the next one. 9 × 3 = 27 in the day.

A planning guide for laying out a day. It is not a quotation, not a price and not a check on what is free: the salon diary is the only record of that, and you get at it by ringing or writing.

A 510-minute day cut into nine slots of 45 minutes with 10 minutes of turnaround Nine filled blocks each show a 45-minute appointment followed by a narrower 10-minute turnaround. A dashed block at the right-hand end shows the 15 minutes that are left over and cannot hold a tenth appointment. 09:00 17:30 Nine slots of 45 + 10 minutes 15 minutes over
The same sum drawn to scale. Each wide block is a 45-minute appointment, each narrow one the 10 minutes after it; the dashed block on the right is the 15 minutes that will not hold a tenth client.
